A House oversight subcommittee held a hearing to examine the August 2016 flooding in southern Louisiana and the federal response. Appearing before the panel was a FEMA regional administrator. He was joined by state and local officials including Governor John Bel Edwards (D) who discussed the displacement of thousands of people in their communities and the slow response of federal aid received from FEMA. The hearing was led by the subcommittee chair John Mica (R-FL) who was part of a congressional delegation that traveled to the region. close
