Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced a cease-fire agreement for Syria, effective at sundown on September 12, 2016. The two leaders stressed that the proposed joint implementation plan would only be carried out if the parties in Syria could adhere to the cessation of hostilities and reduce the threat of violence. Secretary Kerry also condemned North Korea’s latest missile test and said the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un “stands alone and invites great isolation.” This news conference also include remarks from the U.N.'s Special Envoy for Syria. close
