Members of the Federal Communications Commission met for the board’s monthly open meeting in Washington, DC. They discussed, heard testimony on and approved three rule-making measures. The first would improve wireless emergency alerts delivered to cell phones and other mobile devices, the second would relax foreign ownership rules for mass media outlets and the third would require the commission to take steps to ensure fair distribution of “independent and diverse” video content. Afterward, the commissioners approved a number of personnel-related motions and adjourned the meeting. close
