A discussion on the presidential transition process was held at the National Press Club. Participating in the conversation were members of previous administrations including Clinton White House Chief of Staff Mack McLarty and Clay Johnson, a former White House budget official during the George W. Bush administration who headed the Bush-Cheney transition team. Max Stier talked about the Center for Presidential Transition launched earlier that year by the Partnership for Public Service. They gave their insight on the decisions and actions that need to be made to fill leadership positions on a timely basis to ensure that the next president is ready to govern on inauguration day. close
