California Senate Debate

Candidates for California’s U.S. Senate race, the state’s attorney general Kamala Harris (D) and Representative Loretta Sanchez (D), participated in a debate at California State University, Los Angeles. Candidates discussed topics including foreign policy, homeland security, education, marijuana legalization, and criminal justice reform. This is the first time in California history that a Republican did not qualify for the general election ballot due to the new “top two” primary rules established in 2011.
