Harriet Tubman and the Twenty Dollar Bill Scholars talked about the historical significance of the decision to replace Andrew Jackson with Harriet Tubman on the front of the twenty dollar bill, as well as the reactions to the announcement. On April 20, 2016, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew announced that abolitionist Harriet Tubman would replace Andrew Jackson on the front of the twenty dollar bill. The Treasury Department planned to unveil the final concept design in 2020.
