Polarization in Society and Politics
“Our Fractured Republic, Political Divides, and the Role of Pluralism” was held at the Newseum.
Professor John Inazu talked about his book, Confident Pluralism: Surviving and Thriving Through Deep Difference, followed by a panel discussion on polarization and pluralism in the U.S. Topics included the racial, religious, and political diversity in the nation, and made recommendations for how best to bring people from various backgrounds together to better understand each other. The panelists generally agreed that encouraging dialogue and understanding is the best way to counter polarizing ideologies.
