Officials from the United Nations discussed the process for developing rules, guidelines, and sustainable goals among countries for the long-term peaceful use of outer space. In June 2016, a U.N. committee issued the first set of agreed-upon guidelines. A full compendium would be sent to the General Assembly in 2018.
