Technology policy experts Scott Wallsten and Harold Feld discussed their opposing views on what the proposed merger of AT&T and Time Warner would mean for telecommunications. The antitrust unit within the Department of Justice in the next administration would be expected to examine the merger effort closely, as would Congress and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). AT&T said the merger would not be with a competitor, and therefore would not remove a competitor from the telecom field. However, a hearing of the Senate Antitrust Subcommittee would be held December 7, 2016. close
