Civility in Election Discourse Franklin Pierce University and the Newseum co-hosted a discussion with journalists and academics about the tone and media coverage of the 2016 presidential campaign. Panelists contrasted what they all called the “incivility” of the 2016 campaign with the rhetoric of past election cycles. They also discussed the role of social media in the process, as well as the influence it has on the electorate and the reporters covering the campaign. close
