Sir John Chilcot, the chair of the British Iraq Inquiry, answered questions from British lawmakers on the details of his seven-year investigation into the U.K.'s decision to follow the U.S. into the Iraq War. The report, released on July 6, 2016, found that there was not enough evidence to suggest there was an “imminent threat” on the country to justify going into war. Members questioned Mr. Chilcot on the actions of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, whether Parliament was misled by evidence of weapons of mass destruction, and Mr. Blair’s communication with the U.S. prior to the decision to go to war. close
