President Woodrow Wilson delivered a radio address from his home in Washington, D.C., on November 10, 1923. It marked the 5th anniversary of the end of World War I, or Armistice Day, which is now called Veterans Day. The audio recording of Wilson’s four-minute address is the earliest known recording of a radio broadcast. The video includes subtitles to follow along since the audio is difficult to understand. The ailing president, who speaks very slowly in the recording, died a few months later in February of 1924. close
