Representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Government Accountability Office (GAO) testified a hearing on the management of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program. The program requires transportation fuel to contain a minimum volume of renewable fuels for the purpose of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the nation’s reliance on imported oil. The witnesses addressed GAO reports that claim the goals for reducing greenhouse emissions are unlikely to be met. close
