Chris Carter read from U.S. Navy deck logs that describe events on ships that were under attack in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Deck logs are running records of events that take place on naval vessels and are updated every four hours. Entries for December 7, 1941, included receiving shipments of milk and ice before the attack, observing torpedoes striking battleships, and mistaken sightings of Japanese paratroopers invading the islands. These Records of the Bureau of Naval Personnel are housed at the National Archives in College Park, Maryland. close
