Later, Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) presented the Kemp Leadership Award to Governor Nikki Haley (R-SC), President-elect Trump’s nominee to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. In her remarks, Governor Haley spoke about challenges for the Republican Party and South Carolina, including removing the Confederate flag from the state capitol after the 2015 mass shooting at Mother Emmanuel Church in Charleston.
