A debate was held on when the United States should go to war. Many Libertarians criticize the government for intervening in foreign conflicts. On the question, "The United States should be prepared to use force in defense of friendly nations even when not subject to the direct threat of force," Richard Epstein argued for the affirmative and Christopher Preble argued for the negative. After the debate, moderated by Gene Epstein, the debaters answered questions from members of the audience, which voted before and after the debate. Satirist Andrew Heaton started the event with some stand-up comedy.
