President Obama signed the 21st Century Cures Act, a medical research bill that also provides funding for Vice President Joe Biden’s cancer “moonshot” initiative. The law also funds other health care priorities, including opioid abuse and mental health care treatment. The president and the vice president both applauded Congress for its bipartisan passage of the bill. Former West Virginia state senator David Grubb, whose daughter died from opioid addiction, made opening remarks. close
