Fred Harvey Collection of Native-American Art
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2016 LCV Cities Tour” in Scottsdale, Arizona, from October 6-12 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Cox Communications cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.

Diana Pardue gave a tour of the Heard Museum’s “Over the Edge: Fred Harvey at the Grand Canyon and in the Great Southwest” exhibit and showed items featured in the museum’s Fred Harvey collection. Mr. Harvey was an entrepreneur that operated restaurants and hotels along the Santa Fe Railway during the late 1800s. The Santa Fe Railway, along with the Fred Harvey Company, created a vision of the Southwest featuring the merits of the American Indian people and cultures.
