John Kirby briefed reporters and responded to their questions on a variety of international topics, including the assassination of Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov in Ankara saying the U.S. condemned this act of violence and would provide the necessary aid to Russia and Turkey. In addition, Mr. Kirby said the U.S. could not rule out terrorism as a motive but urged reporters to let the shooting investigation run its course. The U.S. Embassy in Ankara was placed under lockdown due to its proximity to the shooting. close
