Mark Toner briefed reporters at the State Department and responded to their questions on a variety of issues, including relations between the U.S. and Israel in the wake of the U.N.'s vote on Israeli settlements. The State Department defended the administration’s decision to abstain from the U.N. resolution vote on Israeli settlements. Mr. Toner said the decision sends a clear message on concerns about settlement activity and the Middle East peace process and that the resolution should “serve as a wake-up call.” Other topics included accusations made by Turkey that the U.S.-led coalition supported terrorist groups in Syria, which Mr. Toner described as “ludicrous.” close
