History of Naval Aviation A tour was given of the San Diego Air and Space Museum, and San Diego’s role in Naval Aviation was profiled. The museum’s replica of the Curtiss A-1, the first plane ever sold to and flown by the U.S. Navy, was also shown. The museum also displays some of the Navy’s most iconic and important places from World War II, including the Corsair, Hellcat, Wildcat, and Dauntless.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2016 LCV Cities Tour” in San Diego, California, from November 5-11, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Charter Spectrum and Cox Communications cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
