Ken Frew gave a tour of the Harris-Cameron Mansion and spoke about the founding of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Mr. Frew explained that John Harris Sr. arrived in the area no known as Harrisburg in 1719. Nearly 70 years later, his son, John Harris Jr. would plot out the city, designating land for the future state capitol. Mr. Frew also spoke about Simon Cameron, a Pennsylvania politician who served as Abraham Lincoln’s Secretary of War.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2016 LCV Cities Tour” in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, from October 15-21 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
