C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2016 LCV Cities Tour” in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, from October 15-21 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.

Paul Kahan talked about his book Amiable Scoundrel: Simon Cameron, Lincoln’s Scandalous Secretary of War, in which he looks at why Simon Cameron is considered to be one Pennsylvania’s most prominent political figures of the 19th century. Simon Cameron served as Secretary of War under President Abraham Lincoln, chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and was a founder of the Republican Party.
