Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chair John Barrasso (R-WY) gaveled the committee into an executive session to vote on President Trump’s nomination of Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt (R) to be the Environmental Protection Agency administrator. The committee could not hold a vote on the nomination, however, because none of the Democratic members appeared for the hearing. Senator Barrasso and Republican committee members condemned the Democrats' action and then dismissed those present after putting the committee into recess subject to the call of the chair. Before leaving the room, Senator Barrasso spoke briefly with reporters. close
