Black History Month Listening Session President Donald Trump spoke to reporters before a meeting to mark the first day of Black History Month with religious leaders, political analysts, and early supporters of his campaign from the African-American community. He asked the attendees to introduce themselves. Vice President Pence and Secretary-designate Ben Carson also attended. The topics the president touched on included the state of America’s inner cities and violence in Chicago, his nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch for the U.S. Supreme Court, and the media, including the “fake news” that he had removed the bust of Martin Luther King, Jr., from the Oval Office. close
