The president at the beginning of his speech commented on the performance of "The Apprentice” since he left as the show’s host. He then talked about how he values the men and women of the U.S. military and vowed his administration would continue the fight against terrorism. He also spoke about religious liberty in the U.S., promising to “get rid of and totally destroy the Johnson Amendment and allow our representatives of faith to speak freely and without fear of retribution.” The amendment he referred to is a U.S. tax code provision that bars tax-exempt charitable groups, which includes churches, from involvement in political activities or endorsing candidates.
