Ruth Lang gave a tour of the Kearney Mansion Museum and spoke about the history of agriculture in Fresno County. Martin Theodore Kearney was an early contributor to the development of agriculture in both Fresno County and the state of California. Kearney was a proponent of the colony farming system, in which fencing and irrigation for all of the lots in the colony were provided cooperatively. He later established the California Raisin Growers Association, helping to stabilize the raisin market.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2017 LCV Cities Tour” in Fresno, California, from January 7-13 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
