The Senate session of Monday, February 6, 2017, resumed at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday to continue debate on the nomination of Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) to be attorney general. Senator Sessions was confirmed by a vote of 52-47. Following the confirmation of Senator Sessions, the Senate began debate on the nomination of Representative Tom Price (R-GA) to be the secretary of health and human services. Senator Sessions delivered his farewell speech to the Senate and submitted his resignation, effective 11:55 p.m. EST Wednesday February 8, 2017. close
