Nathan Madison, author of Tredegar Iron Works: Richmond’s Foundry on the James, talked about the history of the iron works, which was one of the largest iron works in the country and served as the main artillery manufacturing facility for the Confederacy during the Civil War. The iron works was one of the few buildings that survived the Evacuation Fire set in Richmond after the fall of the Confederacy.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2017 LCV Cities Tour” in Richmond, Virginia, from January 21-27 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
