The Atlantic Council hosted a panel discussion on the history of Russian influence in Ukraine. Speakers included former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst and Ukrainian scholars. They talked about the 1932-33 famine in Soviet Ukraine known as the “Holodomor” as well as present day events, including the annexation of Crimea and the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Other topics included Russia under President Vladimir Putin and Trump administration’s foreign policy in the region. close
