The opening session of the 2017 National Governors Association annual winter meeting focused on ways to improve the quality of early childhood education programs around the country. Speakers included actress Jennifer Garner, a trustee of Save the Children, and Mark Shriver, president of Save the Children Action Network. In addition, Huntington Ingalls Industries CEO Mike Petters discussed the importance of education on workforce development. Governor Terry McAuliffe (D-VA), National Governors Association chair, made opening remarks. close
