Neel Kashkari, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and former assistant treasury secretary during the George W. Bush and Obama administrations, compared current financial industry conditions to the circumstances of the 2008 financial crisis that brought about federal bailouts of large, so-called “too big to fail” institutions. He warned that despite current efforts to identify and prevent future systemic economic problems, regulators may not recognize the next crisis until it has already struck. After his speech he participated in a moderated question-and-answer session.

“A View from the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis” was a session of the National Association for Business Economics' economic policy conference. close
