Former Vice President Dick Cheney, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and several other Republican and Democratic leaders celebrated the life and service of the late Representative Bob Michel (R-IL), the longest serving minority leader in U.S. history. Mr. Michel died February 17, 2017, at the age of 93. A decorated war hero who served in World War II, Mr. Michel was a member of Congress from 1957-1995, served as minority whip from 1975-1981 and then later as ouse minority leader from 1981-1995. close
