The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee held the confirmation hearing for President Trump’s labor secretary nominee, Alexander Acosta. He was asked about several issues including overtime pay, education and training, equal pay for women, minimum wage law, and workplace safety.
Mr. Acosta was the president’s second choice for labor secretary. The first nominee, Andrew Puzder, withdrew his nomination in mid February 2017 amid concern from Senators on both sides of the aisle about Mr. Puzder’s business and personal records. close
