British Prime Minister Theresa May delivered a statement announcing the start of formal negotiations for the U.K. to leave the European Union, commonly known as Brexit. The prime minister told members it was an “historic moment” for the U.K. and there was no turning back. Scottish National Party’s parliamentary leader Angus Robertson took issue with the Brexit process, saying the negotiations would not unify the United Kingdom. Back in June 2016, Scotland voted to stay in the EU. The Scottish government is pursuing a second independence vote to leave the United Kingdom. close
