Corporation for Public Broadcasting officials testified at a hearing on cuts to public broadcasting funding in President Trump’s fiscal year 2018 budget plan. President Trump’s plan includes completely defunding the CPB by 2018. During her testimony CPB President and CEO Patricia de Stacy Harrison highlighted the success of some of the CPB’s initiatives including early childhood education programming and access to rural and poor communities. She stressed that without federal funding, public media would not survive. Representative Andy Harris (R-MD) expressed concerns that the CPB could have an agenda in some of the content it produces for air. close
