C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2017 LCV Cities Tour” in Charlottesville, Virginia, from March 18-24 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.

Beth Macy talked about her book, Truevine: Two Brothers, a Kidnapping, and a Mother’s Question: A True Story of the Jim Crow South. In 1899, George and Willie Muse were taken form their home and sold into the circus. For the next 13 years, they were featured in a circus sideshow as “Ambassadors from Mars” and went by the names “Eko"and "Iko.”
