Eliza Gilligan talked about the University of Virginia’s book conservation services, showing parts of the preservation process and showcasing some of the program’s current projects. The University of Virginia library system has a collection of over 350,000 rare books and around 13 million manuscripts. The university formed the preservation program to allow these items to remain on display.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2017 LCV Cities Tour” in Charlottesville, Virginia, from March 18-24 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
