Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price testified at a House Appropriations Committee hearing on President Trump’s fiscal year 2018 budget proposal. The plan cuts HHS funding by $15 billion., including a $1.2 billion decrease for the National Institutes of Health. In response to a question from Representative Barbara Lee (D-CA) on whether he supported the Defense Department’s budget increase at the expense of his own department, Secretary Price said the president’s proposal for his agency is not an attempt to deconstruct HHS. close
