Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) opened the Senate today by commenting on the U.S. missile strikes in Syria, saying he agreed with the President’s actions. He went on to talk about the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to be the next U.S. Supreme Court justice. Following his remarks, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) commented on the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, specifically mentioning that he hoped that the judge heard Democratic concerns and would rule fairly. He lamented the use of the so-called “nuclear option” and hoped that the two parties could come together. He went on to comment on U.S. missile strikes in Syria, agreeing with the action but calling on the administration to now consult with Congress on the way forward. close
