Secretary of State Rex Tillerson held a joint news conference in Moscow with his counterpart, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The two leaders discussed the U.S, missile strike in Syria and Russia’s alleged involvement in the U.S. elections. Secretary Tillerson said U.S.-Russia relations were at a “low point” and said a low level of trust exists between the two countries. Regarding Russia’s role in the 2016 U.S. election, Mr. Lavrov said the U.S. had provided no proof of interference, despite many requests by Russia for evidence.

The joint news conference came shortly before Russia vetoed a draft U.N. Security Council resolution condemning the use of chemical weapons in Syria and called for a full investigation. close
