Asia-Pacific Security U.S. Pacific Command Commander Admiral Harry Harris testified before the House Armed Services Committee on U.S. military strategy in the Asia-Pacific region. Most questions were focused on North Korea’s most recent threats to the U.S. and its military interests and allies in the Asia-Pacific, as well as on China and its increasing influence in the region. Admiral Harris told lawmakers that the U.S. was well-equipped to handle threats from North Korea, but warned that some lack of redundancies in areas such as missile defense concerned him.

Before leaving to chair a closed session of the panel with Admiral Harris.Committee Chair Mac Thornberry (R-TX) spoke with reporters about ongoing negotiations for the fiscal year 2018 budget. close
