New Jersey State Library Rare Books Deborah Mercer showcased some of the rare items held by the New Jersey State Library, including a broadside from William Franklin, New Jersey’s last royal governor. As the official repository of state government, the New Jersey State Library is tasked with the responsibility of archiving anything published by state government from public hearings to newsletters. Since their opening in 1796, the library has also amassed a collection of rare books and items dating back to the state’s founding.
