Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) spoke about the Republican legislation intended to replace the Affordable Care Act. Leader Pelosi urged members to vote against “Trumpcare,” while Speaker Ryan encouraged members to vote for the replacement. The health care replacement bill would eliminate individual insurance mandates and refund tax credits based on age and income. Other key provisions include ending new enrollment in Medicaid expansion as of December 31, 2019, repealing health care taxes in 2018, defunding Planned Parenthood for one year, and keeping the provision allowing adults up to 26 years of age to stay on their parents' health insurance plans. close
