IRS and Education Department officials testified at a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on a recent data breach of Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) records, which could affect up to 100,000 people. Federal Student Aid Chief Operating Officer James Runcie said there was no evidence that any personal info was accessed from the Education Department systems. Several committee members criticized the federal officials for failing to notify Congress sooner about the data breach. close
