British Prime Minister Theresa May responded to reports of tense talks with European leaders over negotiations on the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union. She accused European officials of trying to influence the June 2017 U.K. election with threats. She told reporters that the U.K.'s negotiating position had been misrepresented in the European media and said that the EU talks had hardened. Prime Minister May reiterated that she was the best candidate to negotiate the U.K.'s exit from the European Union and that a vote for Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn would lead to a hung parliament and “a coalition of chaos.”
