Secretary of State Rex Tillerson delivered a statement on U.S. policy toward Qatar. He called on Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Egypt to ease the blockade on Qatar, saying it hindered U.S. military efforts to combat ISIS. In addition, Secretary Tillerson urged for “calm and thoughtful dialogue” among Arab countries in addressing their concerns with Qatar. On June 5, 2017, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Egypt cut diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism. close
