The relationship between the White House and the FBI from over 50 years ago, as we air some of President Johnson’s calls with J. Edgar Hoover. These conversations took place from June through November of 1964, on events including the disappearance of three civil rights workers in Mississippi; civil rights demonstrations across the country; and the presidential campaign.  FBI Director Hoover also advises LBJ on who should be the next attorney general. And we talk with Washington DC attorney and author Ken Ackerman, whose books include: Young J. Edgar: Hoover and the Red Scare 1919-1920. close
