The Minutemen and Their World Robert Gross talked about his book The Minutemen and Their World, in which he describes the events leading up to the Revolutionary War and the role that Concord, Massachusetts, played in it. On April 19, 1775, some of the first shots of the American Revolution were fired at the Old North Bridge in Concord, Massachusetts. In 1837, writer Ralph Waldo Emerson commemorated this event with his poem describing “the shot heard round the world.”
