Telephone lines were open for viewer calls and social media comments on a question about President Trump’s previous-day speech at the Boy Scout National Scout Jamboree in Glen Jean, West Virginia: “Was the speech too political?” Previous presidents avoided partisan political remarks when addressing the group. Mr. Trump near the beginning of his speech said, “Who the hell wants to speak about politics when I’m in front of the Boy Scouts?” He then went on to criticize President Obama, talk about the “fake media,” and comment on the crowd size, among other political topics.

The Hill's Alex Bolton spoke by phone about the Senate test vote later in the day on an Affordable Care Act replacement bill. close
